Can a ceremony on the SOPAC stage be filmed without it looking like a concert?
Yes, but not with the house rig alone. Theatre lighting is built for a performance read at forty feet, not for skin at six, so we ask the venue to hold the wash flat and warm and we light your faces ourselves. The atrium lobby is where the film opens back up, because that is the only part of the building getting real daylight.
Are there restrictions on filming inside the Seton Hall chapel?
Campus chapels and Catholic parishes each set their own terms, usually covering where an operator may stand and whether anyone may move during the liturgy. We get the celebrant's rules in writing at the walkthrough. If the answer is fixed positions only, we plan for fixed positions and put the movement into the hour before and the hour after.
Is South Orange actually good for night footage?
It is one of the better towns in the state for it. Gaslight throws a low, warm, slightly moving light that modern sensors handle beautifully and that no lighting kit convincingly fakes. Do we need anything from the village to film downtown?
For a small party walking between the station and a venue, no. The village does administer its own facility rentals and any closure of public space, so anything that stops traffic or reserves a street corner goes through South Orange directly, and we shoot inside the window you are granted.
