Beardsley Zoo has three different buildings. Which one films best?
They film differently rather than better. The greenhouse gives you soft daylight and a shallow frame, and it is small. The carousel building gives you movement and a hard bright interior that wants controlled light. The Hanson Building sits between them. We would rather see your guest count first, because the room that fits the party is the room that photographs well.
Can we shoot on Seaside Park or along the waterfront?
Sometimes, and it is a permit question rather than a camera question. The city requires a park permit for gatherings that need exclusive use, amplified sound, temporary structures or a large crowd, and the details move, so we confirm the current rule with Bridgeport for your date instead of repeating last year's answer.
The Bijou has no kitchen. Does that change our timeline?
It changes the caterer's, which changes yours. Outside catering means service arrives on somebody else's clock and the hot window is narrower than it would be in a hall. We put portraits ahead of that squeeze rather than inside it, and we hold the room quiet for ten minutes while it resets.
The Soundview deck faces the sunset. When do we need to be up there?
On a clear evening that deck deserves a fixed appointment on the timeline rather than a maybe. The good light off the Sound lasts about half an hour and it does not wait for the toasts to finish. We ask your coordinator to protect fifteen minutes inside that window and we give the rest of the night back.
Half our guests are coming up by train. Does that change anything?
Mostly it helps. The Main Street building is a short walk from the Bridgeport station, so late arrivals turn up on foot instead of circling for parking. Give us the arrival times and we will know not to call the entrance before the platform has emptied.
