Wedding Videographer in Hillside, NJ
Hillside is a small township sitting where Newark, Elizabeth and Union all meet, and most of a wedding day here happens across those seams. The morning is a house on a Hillside block, a street where the neighbors already know what is happening and come out onto the porches for it. By afternoon the day has crossed a line onto Morris Avenue or down toward the airport hotels, and nobody drove more than ten minutes to do it.
The township keeps two things worth a camera. The Woodruff House on Conant Street has stood since about 1735 and holds three centuries of building in one structure. The county park on the same street gives you trees, grills and open ground five minutes from the front door. Everything larger is next door: the tented lawn at Liberty Hall in Union, the Olmsted lake at Weequahic just over the Newark line, the Terrace Ballroom on Broad Street.
That is not a compromise, it is how Hillside works. We film the morning where the family is and the night where the room is, and it reads as one continuous day because that is what it was.
Hillside sits on Route 22 near the Parkway and 78, so we can be at the house before the makeup chair is set up and still make a Newark or Union room ahead of the guests.

You receive a cinematic edit built for the way people actually watch, cut to the sound of your own day. Everything included is agreed in writing before the date is held.
Hillside weddings, answered
There is no large ballroom in Hillside. Where do people hold the reception?
Next door, almost always, and it works fine. Liberty Hall in Union is minutes up Morris Avenue, the Newark rooms sit ten to fifteen minutes north, and the airport hotels in Elizabeth are about the same going south. Pick the room first and let the ceremony location follow it, because the drive is the shortest variable in this part of the county.
Can we film at the Woodruff House?
Ask the Hillside Historical Society before you plan on it. The house is a museum rather than a rental venue, it is on the State and National Registers, and its public hours are limited to the third Sunday of most months. If they say yes to a portrait visit, we will work to whatever they permit inside the building and keep the crew and the gear to the smallest footprint that gets the shot.
Do we need permits for portraits at Conant Park or Weequahic Park?
They are two different counties, so they are two different phone calls. Conant Park is Union County and goes through the county reservation desk in Elizabeth. Weequahic Park is Essex County and goes through its permits division. Neither one is expensive or difficult, but both want lead time, and turning up with a bridal party and no paperwork is how a shot list gets cut in half.
Our program is long and traditional. Will you still be there at the end?
That is a booking decision made now rather than a favor asked at eleven at night. A traditional program that opens in the morning and runs into a reception is a full span of hours, not an evening package, and the parts that matter most to the family are often the ones a short film cuts. Walk us through the order of events at the enquiry stage and we will quote the hours and the second camera the day actually needs.
How much time should we leave between the house and the venue?
Twenty minutes covers almost any of these hops, and we would rather have it than not. The real delay in Hillside is not distance, it is the send off, the photographs on the porch and the last person who needs the bathroom. Build the cushion in and the whole day stays calm on camera.
