Wedding films across New Jersey.
New Jersey is home. The house is based here, most of our couples are within an hour of Essex and Union County, and a New Jersey Saturday is an ordinary working day rather than a trip. That is a scheduling fact before it is anything else: it decides how early we arrive, how long we can stay, and whether a second location costs you coverage or simply costs a drive.
We film in vertical cinema, 9:16, because that is the screen the film will actually be watched on, and this state gives the format plenty to work with. A 9:16 frame wants height and it wants closeness, and a New Jersey wedding day tends to hand you both: a staircase, a doorway with too many people in it, a kitchen where the best twenty minutes happen before anyone has shoes on. Do you cover the whole state or only the north?
The whole state, with an honest caveat about distance. The house is based in North Jersey, so Essex, Union, Morris and the towns along the Parkway are routine work. A shore or South Jersey date is a longer day and is quoted as one, with the travel written into the agreement before the date is held rather than raised afterwards.
Our ceremony and reception are in different towns. Does that cost us coverage?
Only if nobody plans for it, which in this state is easy to do. Two locations means a transfer, and a transfer eats the exact half hour couples set aside for portraits. Send both addresses at the enquiry stage and the booked hours get built around the drive, instead of the drive quietly eating the middle of the film.
How far ahead should we be booking?
Earlier than feels necessary for a Saturday between May and October, because that is when most of the rooms and gardens on these pages are working every weekend. We do not hold a date informally. It is held when the agreement is signed, and until then it is genuinely open to whoever signs first.
Is a New Jersey wedding filmed differently from a city one?
The approach does not change, the logistics do. Out here you usually have parking, a house to get ready in and room to move, so more of the day happens on camera without anyone negotiating for space first. That is why so much of the footage from these towns is quiet and close rather than shot from the back of a room.
